Exclusive: DK Ravi makes last call to woman IAS batchmate?

Bengaluru: While the opposition parties are finding ‘politics’ behind the death of IAS officer DK Ravi and the ruling Congress government is not in a position to give proper answers, the criminal Investigation Department (CID) now finds ‘purely personal’ reasons are allegedly behind it, as the officer’s last call was to his woman batch mate.

Police also said that she could be his friend and Ravi could have revealed the actual reason for his extreme step to her.

The call details of Ravi are said to have given credence to the ‘personal’ reasons behind the incident. According to the sources, he made his last call to a woman IAS officer of his batch and investigators are trying to find the actual reason behind it.

Sources told the Newskarnataka that he spoke to the lady officer on Monday. It was around 11.20 AM and was his last call to anybody.  Police are trying to contact the said officer to get more details on the incident and whether he revealed anything with her on his extreme step.

‘It may be recalled that the chief minister Siddaramaiah, on Tuesday, said  in the Legislative Assembly that Ravi’s death was prima facie declared as suicide. However, the government could not reveal the ‘phone call theory’ as it pertains to the personal details of the officer and the government actually doesn’t want to do that as it is a very sensitive issue.

It is coincidence that Ravi did not receive his wife Kusuma’s call since 11.30 AM on that day. Hanumantharayappa, father of Kusuma said in the police complaint, “From March 14, my son-in-law and daughter were at my house. On Monday, around 9.30 am, we had breakfast together and Ravi left for office. At around 4.45 pm, my daughter came to me and said Ravi had not been answering calls. She said Ravi’s driver told her that from 11.30 am, he was at his newly purchased flat at St John’s Wood Apartment. I left for the apartment alone, while my daughter, along with her cousin, followed me. We entered the house using the duplicate key and found Ravi hanging from the ceiling fan in the bedroom. It was around 6.45 pm.”

Police are trying to find out the details on any altercations that may have occurred at Hanumantharayappa’s house, which may have lead to Ravi’s decision.  Hanumantharayappa  is a politician related to the Congress party. He has close friendship with minister DK Shivakumar.

Evidence destroyed by VIP’s?

The CID police are finding it difficult to investigate DK Ravi’s death case as the fingerprint bureau and FSL team have found hundreds of fingerprints and hair pieces in the scene of crime in St. John’s Wood apartment.

An officer told newskarnataka that the local Madiwala police, under whose jurisdiction the incident took-place could not protect the evidences in ‘scene of crime’ as there was ‘VIP rush’ towards the officer’s residence after hearing the news of death. Home Minister KJ George, leaders of various political parties and other VIPs rushed to the spot and entered the hall and the local police could not protect the crime scene.

As the opposition and social activists allege foul play behind the incident, and alleging that it could be a murder, the police have to investigate the case in all possible angles. So, the police are to collect finger prints and other evidences in the spot. Now they have found hundreds of fingerprints and number of pieces of hair in the officer’s residence.

This is because of the failure of the local Madiwala police, who could not protect the scene of occurrence and allowed all VIPs and others inside the officer’s residence. The finger prints and hair pieces and other such minute evidences found in the place will not help the police to find out any person’s clue who entered Ravi’s house for the possible murder. The finger prints and hair pieces are now becoming useless as they will only lead to VIPs who entered the house after the incident, an officer said. “It is certainly failure of the Bangalore police,” the CID official added.
