Bengaluru: DK Ravi, 36, an additional commissioner of Commercial Tax was found dead in his residence on Monday evening under mysterious conditions.
This young IAS officer, who was known for his integrity and honesty was found dead in his flat at the St. John’s Wood apartment complex at Tavarekere Main Road, Sadduguntepalya, Bengaluru. Home Minister KJ George, Senior police officers including police commissioner MN Reddy, Additional Commissioner Alok Kumar and others rushed to the spot, which comes under Madiwala police station limits.
The police who have intensified the investigation, did not reveal the cause of death and how the body was found. Police sources say that they are suspecting it to be a suicide case, but the actual facts will be revealed after thorough investigation.
The 2009 batch officer DK Ravi is a Kannadiga officer and did his BSc in agriculture from Bangalore University and was a master in Zoology. He was transferred as Additional Commissioner of Commercial Tax in October 2014 in midst of protests from Kolar public demanding the government to cancel his transfer. He gained name for honesty and good governance and worked against the real estate lobby.
He raided various builders and made many bigwigs his enemies after he was appointed as Additional Commissioner of Commercial Tax. He started his carreer as Assistant Commissioner at the Revenue department, Gulbarga and was later appointed as Senior Assistant Commissioner of Gulbarga. Later he was transferred as Chief Executive Officer of Koppal Zilla Panchayat and became Deputy Commissioner of Kolar in August 2013. But the government transferred him within 14 months, which attracted protests from the Kolar public.
It is said that he was receiving threat calls from underworld and he attracted enemies from the real estate mafia because of his honesty and integrity.
