Mangaluru: The Indian Gaur Bull that had wandered into the city on Tuesday, May 5 morning, tragically died hours after it was captured.

It can be recalled that the bull was spotted in various parts of Mangaluru city, during wee hours of Tuesday.

The locals intimated the police and the forest department officials, who plunged into action, tranquillised and captured the bovine.

The animal was loaded onto a truck and taken to Pilikula for treatment and rehabilitation, said sources.

An animal activist who was present at the scene during the capture told Newskarnataka.com that the bull had died on Tuesday afternoon. “The bull died due to a possible overdose of the tranquilliser,” the source said.

He added that the bull was very young, possibly around two to three years old. “It still had a long life ahead of it. Unfortunately, it wandered into the city and died later on,” he added.
