Yadagiri: Former minister Raja Madan Gopal Nayak died due to COVID-19, on Monday, July 27.
A resident of Surapura, Nayak (70) died in a hospital in Kalaburagi. He was suffering from pneumonia and cardiac issues.
The former minister had a fever and other symptoms, due to which he was admitted to the ESI Hospital in Kalaburagi on July 23. His COVID test results came back positive.
Sources said that the mortal remains of the former minister will be kept in an ambulance for some time so that his fans and supporters could have a last glimpse, from a distance.
Surapura Health Officer said that Nayak’s last rites will be performed on his own land, as per the COVID rules.
Nayak was the minister in the Congress government from 1992 to 1994. He later joined the BJP and contested in the 2014 elections but was defeated. He represented Surapura thrice.
