Mumbai: Legendary actor Pran(93),the iconic villain of Hindi cinema who passed away Friday night due to prolonged illness and multiple organ failure, will be cremated on July 13, Saturday at the Shivaji Park crematorium in Mumbai.
Pran who is also the recipient of the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award recently, breathed his last at around 8.30 pm at the Lilavati hospital. He had acted in over 400 films in his career spanning over six decades.
The actor was preented the Phalke award at his residence by Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari. Pran who began his career as a photographer in 1940, ended up in films with his debut film being ‘Yamla Jat’ after a chance meeting with a film producer.
He later got a break in Bombay Talkies` film ‘Ziddi’, in which Dev Anand played the lead role. Among his memorable movies are ‘Azaad’, ‘Madhumati’, ‘Devdas’, ‘Dil Diya Dard Liya’, ‘Ram Aur Shyam’, ‘Aadmi’, ‘Ziddi’, ‘Munimji’, ‘Amardeep’, ‘Jab Pyar Kisise Hota Hai’, ‘Chori Chori’, ‘Chhalia’, and ‘Zanjeer’.
