US President boasts he aced a “Cognitive Test”; Netizens are amused

Washington: US President Donald Trump boasted about having “aced” a cognitive test and claimed doctors were “very surprised” at his apparently fantastic results. This has had netizens gasping for breath in COVID Times! Not a good sign! Sigh! Trump, who sat down with Fox News anchor Chris Wallace for an interview at the White House, also touched on several issues such as coronavirus, Joe Biden’s plan to “defund the police” and his election campaigns.

It was when the interviewer suggested to Trump that a poll by the news channel showed voters believed that Biden had a stronger mental capacity to be president, Trump suggested that Biden take a cognitive test that he had! “(Joe Biden) should take the same exact test. A very standard test. I took it at Walter Reed Medical Centre in front of doctors. And they were very surprised. They said, ‘That’s an unbelievable thing. Rarely does anybody do what you just did,” Trump says in the interview.

However, when Wallace claims that the test is easy, Trump says the television anchor is misrepresenting the test. “I’ll bet you couldn’t. They get very hard, the last five questions,” he says in the interview.

Several excerpts from the video have gone viral on social media, with netizens expressing amusement over Trump’s responses.

Trump tweets pic of himself with a black mask and a call for patriotism!

Trump went some way to addressing his sliding popularity polls and his much-critcised handling of the Pandemic that has partly prompted the poll slide when on Monday with a tweeted picture of himself in a black mask with the presidential seal and a call for patriotism. “Many people say that it is Patriotic to wear a face mask when you can’t socially distance,” Trump wrote. “There is nobody more Patriotic than me, your favorite President!” However, his tweet stopped well short of endorsing calls from some for a nationwide mandate to wear masks in public.

Trump says that people are not getting to hear the right kind of news. So he is expected to resume his daily briefings on the Corona Virus that initially were ridiculed for their naivety and confusing signals to a struggling and fearful public. He had stopped the briefings in Late April following widespread negative feedback. “I think it’s a great way to get information out to the public,” he told reporters. “We’re doing very well in so many different ways.” He said it’s not just the US alone that is suffering. It is also ravaging “Mexico, Brazil, many countries in Europe, all over, Russia.” “When you watch the news, the local news, and you see it, and it’s, it’s like all about the United States. They never like to talk about what’s going on in the world,” he said. He said he would focus on the “Good News – vaccine development and therapeutics.” “We think we’re doing very well in that regard,” he said. “I think I’m going to be bringing in some of the great companies that are working very successfully.” “We’re really coming up with some very good answers,” he said.

But in the same interview in which he claimed to have aced the cognitive test, on “Fox News Sunday,” he once again claimed that the virus, which has killed more than 140,000 Americans and caused the massive economic disruption, would somehow go away by itself. “I’ll be right eventually,” he said.

There are just over 100 days left for the presidential election.
