New York: In a first, police have booked a US man after he posted a video on Facebook in which he was shown violating traffic rules.

Facebook user Michael Dalton posted a video on the social networking website that showed him cutting through the parking lot of Trail Ridge Apartment Complex in the city of Columbia and jumping a stop sign, KKTV.com reported.

The video he posted on Facebook was viewed by police and a week later, a police officer visited his house and charged him for reckless driving and running a stop sign.

“People getting upset at me because it was showing through the parking lot on private property. It’s just this, that and the other,” Dalton was quoted as saying.

Meanwhile, the police confirmed that they charged Dalton for running the stop sign based on his video.

“We have seen stuff on Facebook before that has led to different things, but this is the first time that I am aware of that we have given a ticket for it,” a police officer was quoted as saying.

The video shows Dalton running a stop sign and when someone puts something on Facebook for all of the public to see, police can definitely take action if they need to.

“You have a First Amendment right to post whatever you want, and can. But if you’re breaking the law and it’s in our jurisdiction, then we can do something about it,” the police officer added.
