Chicago: U S Poacher David Berry Jr will be forced to watch the animated movie “Bombi” for at least once in a month during his yearlong jail term. A judge in the U S state of Missouri has pronounced this judgement. The law enforcing officials described this case as one of their largest-ever poaching investigations.

According to Missouri Conservation Authority, Berry and his two relatives have killed hundreds of deer over three years. Berry’s sentence was announced by the Missouri Conservation Authority in a statement on December 13.

Berry’s hunting privileges were revoked for previous violations and was under supervision when he was poaching the deer. Prosecutor Don Trotter of Lawrence County, Missouri said, “The deer were trophy bucks taken illegally, mostly at night, for their heads, leaving the bodies of the deer to waste.”

The film “Bambi” is about a wide eyed young deer and its doting mother, a pioneering animated film by the Walt Disney Company released in August 1942 which had fascinated children. In the film, the image of the young Bambi curling next to the dead body of its mother has become iconic. It had sparked discussions about a death which was not an issue back then and also about helping youngsters cope with death of a dear one.

The Time Magazine has included “Bambi” in their top 25 horror movies of all time, along with “Frankenstein”, “The Exorcist” and the “Night of the Living Dead.”
