New Delhi : Indias largest bank – State Bank of India-is set to get its first woman managing director in Arundhati Bhattacharya, the current MD and chief executive officer of SBI Capital Markets, the merchant banking arm of the lender,as Indias Prime Ministers Office has paved the way for the first woman head at a public bank.
Bhattacharya will replace Diwakar Gupta, who is the managing director and chief financial officer of the bank and who will retire this month-end.
Prior to her role at SBI Caps, Bhattacharya was also the corporate development officer. She has been instrumental in setting up various initiatives of SBI, including SBI General Insurance, SBI Macquarie Infrastructure Fund and SBI SG Global Securities Services,sources said.
