Police officer loses control over the wheel: Five killed

Pune: In an tragic incident which occured, five people were killed when a Deputy Superintendent of Police lost control over his SUV near Pune last evening, police said.

This accident took place around 4:30 pm at Kondhapuri near Shikrapur.The police officer, Dinkar Mahajan, lost control over his Tata Safari.

Mr Mahajan, posted in Amravati district and this mishap occured when he was heading towards Pune with his family.

He lost control over the wheel and went on hit four pedestrians, including three schoolgirls.Then even collided with a stationary container truck, which was being repaired by its driver and cleaner as said by the police.

Two of the pedestrians – a schoolgirl and an elderly person – and the container trucks driver and cleaner were killed. Mr Mahajans wife Meenakshi also died due to the impact of the collision.

The other two schoolgirls were seriously injured and have been admitted to a private hospital in Pune. Mr Mahajan has also suffered injuries, said the police.
