Patna : A minister of Bihar said on Thursday that people join the Army and the police force just to die,it was an insult to the Indian Army soldiers, particularly those killed in a Pakistani attack along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday. Later, the minister apologised for his remark and blamed media for the controversy.
The Panchayati Raj and Rural Works Minister, Bhim Singh, made the insensitive remark while responding to the reporters question about the absence of Bihars ministers at the airport to receive the bodies of four of the five soldiers martyred in the ambush.
There was no minister at the airport to receive the bodies of the soldiers on Wednesday night.
Ironically, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had announced state honours for the martyrs as he also announced Rs.10 lakh ex gratia payment to each of the affected families on Wednesday.
