Sialkot: The Pakistan government, under the direction of Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed to open the doors of Shawala Tej Singh Temple, a Hindu temple, here on Monday, July 29.
Said to be at least 1000-years-old and built by Sardar Teja Singh, the temple was sealed during the Indo-Pak partition.
According to the reports, the temple was attacked by a mob and damaged in the year 1992, during the demolition of Babri Masjid in India. After that incident, the Hindus had stopped visiting the temple.
Now the temple is all set to be opened after 72 years.
Deputy Commissioner Bilal Haider has confirmed that people were free to visit the site anytime.
Meanwhile, the Pak government has assured of preserving and restoring the ancient temple and opening its doors for visitors soon.
