New Delhi: The Juvenile Justice Board has deferred the first verdict against the juvenile accused in the Delhi gang-rape case. The verdict is likely to be pronounced on August 5.
This comes after the Supreme Court on Tuesday agreed to hear a plea by Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy for a fresh interpretation of the term “juvenile”.
A bench headed by Chief Justice P Sathasivam admitted the plea for hearing on July 31.
With the trial already concluded and statements recorded, the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) of Delhi was expected to pronounce its verdict against the juvenile accused. The juvenile was referred to as the most brutal accused among the six accused in the gang-rape of a 23-year-old paramedical student on December 16 last year.
