Mumbai: As heavy rains continue to lash Mumbai, BMC on Wednesday sent an alert to people in Mumbai advising them to not venture out of their homes unless completely necessary.

The Meteorological Department has predicted more rainfall in the next 24 hours as the city of Mumbai has been receiving heavy rain since 1 am on Tuesday morning with very little respite.

High tide is also expected on Wednesday afternoon as many parts of the city are water-logged.

The high tide with waves as high as 4.95 metres are expected to lash the island city at 1.27 pm today.

Traffic is slow in many parts of the city with huge traffic jams reported on the Eastern and Western Express Highways.

The Western Line trains are running 15 to 20 minutes later as Central Line trains are 30 minutes late. The Harbour Line which was stopped on Tuesday for sometime due to rains is seeing a delay of 45 to 50 minutes as many tracks along the line are flooded.

Flights are also delayed due to the heavy rains.
