Ranchi : Former Ranji player from Jharkhand, Santosh Lal, died on Wednesday after being diagnosed from pancreatitis. Santosh was one of the closest friends of Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni who helped him invent his famous helicopter shot.
Ramesh Kumar, Lals friend, informed that he was admitted to Guru Nanak hospital in Ranchi on July 12, after complaining unbearable pain in his stomach. He was then detected with with acute pancreatitis.
Dhoni was in touch with his family and extended full support in making all necessary arrangements for the treatment.
Dhoni, who is out on a tour of the US, reportedly credited his helicopter shot to Lal, who used to execute the stroke in Ranji Trophy matches with style. Lal was working with the Railways.
