CBI stated that Rajinder Kumar of intelligence department informd that both Modi and Amit had consented to slain Ishrat and other 3 men. The then DIG D G Vanjara had twice called Amit Shah in this regard, which has to be proved by CBI.

Mumbai college student Ishrat Jahan, Javed Sheikh alias Pranesh Pillai, Amjad Ali Rana and Jishan Johar were slain during an encounter on June 15 2004.  The controversy over this fake encounter has not yet been solved.

The crime branch in an encounter slained Ishrat and his 3 associates, who were tipped-off to arrive in Ahmedabad, in order to kill Narendra Modi.  CBI filed a chargeeet on July 4.  It was believed that because of erroneous information of Rajinder of intelligence department, the encounter has been carried out.

Meanwhile, Modi alleged that Congress is misusing CBI in a conspiracy against him.
