Patna: The once upon a time friends have turned  foes , exactly two days after the Janata Dal (United) called it quits with Bharatiya Janata Party, clsashes have taken place outside the BJP office here, leaving many injured.

Toady BJP tried to enforce a day-long bandh in Bihar today to protest against what it calls the “betrayal”.

Most commercial establishments in the state are closed. Road transport has been hit partially, small vehicles are being allowed to ply on roads. The party has said the bandh will not affect rail and emergency services. The BJP has also planned a protest march in Patna.

BJP national general secretary Rajiv Pratap Rudy has reacted angrily at the situation and said s “What rights does the Bihar CM have to sent his party workers and stage a clash here (BJP office)? He must give an answer.”

Lashing out at Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar earlier in the day, Prasad said: “Our alliance was ruling so well, and only because of ego issues they pulled out of the alliance”.

One of the oldest allies of the BJP, the JD-U is the 14th party to desert the NDA, which was formed in 1998 and ruled India for six years under the leadership of the now ailing Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
