New Delhi : Two Class VII students from New Delhi have discovered an asteroid which has earned them international recognition from Nasa as well. Sources said that, Gaurav Pati and Shourya Chambial are currently studying in Class VII in Amity International School, Pushp Vihar. The asteroid discovered by the boys has been provisionally named 2013 LS28.
The boys began their discovery after International Astronomical Search Collaborations (IASC) Asteroid Search Campaign in May.Shourya Chambial says that at the workshop where they were shown a software called Astrometrica. They were taught to analyse data with the software.
After identifying 62 objects, the boys sent to the list and got a reply within 3 days from NASA confirming that one of space objects had been provisionally granted the status of an asteroid.
Both students are keenly interested in astronomy. Gaurav wants to become a science fiction writer while Shourya hopes to go to Stanford or Harvard and eventually join Nasa.
