Udupi: The 17th general body meeting of the Zilla Panchayat was held on Wednesday August 7 at Manipal.
Concentrating on the rise of harassment cases at educational institutes in the district, a discussion was held during the meeting. DDPI was instructed to take strict action against the teachers who involve in such activities.
With regards to the Endosulfan affected patients Indira Shetty pointed that the patients are not paid pension for the last 4 months.
Clarifying the complaint Ramachandra Bairy (DHO), said there are around 1,125 persons affected by Endosulfan here. From few months some accounts are inactive due to non-usage and the department is not able to deposit money in their particular account, he said.
He advised all to activate their account and the money will be availed.
He also said that a bank account is a must to get pension cheque, account from cooperative societies will not be acceptable.
In the meeting it was also decided that defected borewells and wells if left open by the government, a provision should be made to close it immediately and if any financial problem arise funds should be used from other schemes.
