Women’s Congress opposes GST on sanitary pads

Udupi: The District Women’s Congress submitted a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner of Udupi District Priyanka Mary Francis on July 12 regarding 12 percent GST on sanitary products.

Women’s Congress condemned the 12 percent GST on sanitary products and urged the prime minister to intervene immediately and exempt sanitary pads from the new tax structure.

The delegation included Veronica Cornelio, President of Udupi District Women’s Congress, Sarala Kanchan, Chandrika Shetty, Dr. Sunitha Shetty, Roshni Oliver, Jyothi Hebbar, Ramadevi, Mary D’Souza, Pramila Jathanna and Youth Congress Vice President Samantha Alva.
