Udupi: Union Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman visited the Sri Krishna Matt here on Tuesday, March 26 and offered prayers to the presiding deity. Paryaya Sri Vidyadheesha Theertha Swamiji of Palimar Matt performed the rituals.
The defence minister requested Paryaya Swamiji to offer prayers to Lord Krishna for the welfare of the country and also for Narendra Modi to once again be elected as the prime minister.
Nirmala Sitharaman said that she has visiting Sri Krishna Matt of Udupi and Kollur temple since a long time. She also said that she will take part in the ‘Brahmakalashotsava’ ceremony which will be held shortly.
Paryaya Swamiji asked the defence minister to send Wing Commander Abhinandan to Udupi. The seer expressed his desire to honour Abhinandan who was a part of the air strikes over Pakistan. Nirmala Sitharaman has told Paryaya Swamiji that she did not have any problem arranging for Abhinandan’s visit to Udupi, if there were no legal problems.
MLA Raghupathy Bhat, Shobha Karandlaje, Uday Kumar Shetty, Shreesha Nayak, Pradeep Rao, Vijay Bhat, Bharathi Shetty, Suvardhan Nayak and several others accompanied Nirmala Sitharaman.
