Udupi: Member of Parliament and BJP leader Nalin Kumar Kateel was all praise for the Union government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Monday, June 11.

Addressing the reporters at the BJP district office, the MP said that Narendra Modi led government at the centre has witnessed an extraordinary transformation in the country under its commitment to bring ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ in the last four years.

Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said that Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas and the dream of Swami Vivekananda of Nava Bharath Nirman were coming to fruition in the four years of Narendra Modi’s governance. “US President Donald Trump once told that the only country that can counter the strong USA will be none other than India,” he added.

Highlighting that Narendra Modi’s biggest achievement so far was “the stringent action against corruption”, Nalin claimed that presently the nation was going from “Kaala Dhan to Jan Dhan” and from bad governance to good governance after the historic announcement of demonetization to crack down on the flow of black money.

“Under Modi’s leadership, the country is achieving unprecedented growth. By opening 31.52 crores Jan Dhan accounts over the past four years, the Prime Minister has tried to serve the banking needs of the poor,” he added.

Nalin also detailed other achievements of the Union government in the past four years. Under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Uogana (PMUY) scheme more than 3.8 crores below poverty line (BPL) families were given free LPG connections. The Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Yojana was launched so that no village in India remains in darkness. The Saubhagya scheme ensured that every household was electrified. Under Pradhan Mantri Graha Nirman Yojana two and a half crore houses have been built, he said.

Turning to the issue of sanitation, he said that the Swachh Bharat Mission had brought in a sanitation revolution in the country by constructing over 7.25 crore toilets. During the past four years the sanitation coverage in the country went up from 38% to 83% in 2018, he said.

“In the area of infrastructure, projects worth lakhs of crores of rupees were implemented without a scam. This includes 53,000 km road worth Rs. 5.35 lakh crore under the Bharat Mala initiative. More than 1.69 kilometers of rural roads have been built in last four years and the speed of highway construction has gone up from 12km per day to 27 km per day in the last four years. The Bharatmala project of the government aims to connect the entire country with a network of highways at a cost of more than Rs 5,35,000 crore,” Nalin added.

He also talked briefly on the topic of the achievements of Modi government in the health sector. “In order to better health facilities, the affordable and quality health care across the country, under Ayushman Bharat Scheme, the government intends to provide health insurance to 10 crore families. The government also launched Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan scheme to ensure the good health of mother and child. Generic medical have been opened to provide medicines at lower prices. The people can avail benefits directly into their accounts and the government has been towards the creation of jobs,” he said.

Nalin also said that Karnataka had received highest central aid of Rs 3 lakh crore in four years.

Interestingly, a few days back Udupi-Chikmagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje had held a press meet in Mangaluru. Now, Nalin Kumar Kateel spoke at the home constituency of Shobha Karandlaje.
