Udupi: The district, for the first time, reported over 300 cases in a single day. On Saturday, August 8, 314 people tested positive for COVID-19 while five people succumbed to the disease.
Out of the 314 cases reported today, 192 are from the Udupi taluk, 87 are from the Kundapur taluk and 30 are from the Karkala taluk. Five of the cases are from the other districts.
As many as 156 of the new cases have had contact with COVID patients, whereas the other 75 had mild symptoms like slight cold and fever. Additionally, four people have travel history and the contact history of 79 people is being traced, informed District Health and Family welfare officer Dr Sudhir Chandra Sooda.
In some good news, 89 people were discharged after recovering from the disease.
