Udupi : District Working Journalists’ Association staged protest on Wednesday, September 6 in front of the War Memorial, Ajjarkad here against the cold blooded murder of noted journalist Gauri Lankesh.
Jaykar Suvarna, President of the Udupi Working Journalists’ Association said,”we are strongly condemning the murder of noted journalist Gauri Lankesh in Bengaluru. Journalists are living under fear in the state. A journalist has been killed for ideological differences and views. The Police should nab the culprits and justice should be rendered. Meantime, protection for the journalists has become need of the hour.
The journalists said that bullets are not the action for conflicting ideologies.
Senior journalist Deepak Jain said that the murder has put the society to shame. “We demand to arrest of culprits immediately,” he said.
Secretary Ganesh Prasad Pandelu, Treasurer Rajesh Shetty, Sports Secretary Nazeer Polya, district award winner senior journalist B. B. Shettigar, Ganesh Prabhu, Subaschandra Wagle, Manjushree, Ganesh Amin, Shashidhar Masthibailu, Umesh Kukkipalke and others were present.
