Udupi: The Election Commission of India has announced the date for the Shivamogga Lok Sabha Constituency bypolls on October 6. Following this, the Byndoor Legislative Assembly Constituency of the Udupi district has also got its by-poll election date announced.
The by-poll election will be held on November 3 and the counting will be on November 6.
“The Model Code of Conduct will be implemented with an immediate effect uptil November 8”, said District Commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis.
The DC said that according to the eligibility as per January 1, 2018, there are 2,21,972 voters in Byndoor. As many as 243 polling booths along with three additional polling booths have been set up. EVM and VVPAT machines will be in use during voting.
Priyanka Mary said that for the election duty, 246 Polling Officers, 246 Assistant Polling Officers, 738 Polling Officers, and 123 Reserve Force have been deployed.
