Udupi CMC meet witnesses chaos over ‘anti-Hindu’ remark on CM

Udupi : Both the ruling party and the opposition party resorted to a verbal battle during the general body meeting of the Udupi CMC on Friday, December 29, 2017.

BJP leader Yashpal Suvarna objected to the fact that CM Siddaramaiah had visited several times to the region, yet he did not visit Udupi temple, especially when the Paryaya festival is fast approaching. He termed the attitude of the CM as ‘anti-Hindu’.

As soon as Suvarna called the CM anti-Hindu, pandemonium broke out in the house.

Earlier, Suvarna said that the CMC should convene a special meeting to discuss vital issues pertaining to Paryaya. He pointed that last year, Rs 3 cr was sanctioned for last Paryaya, but only Rs 1.5 cr was used. “Lot of work on roads and other infra structure needs to be taken up, ” he said calling the CM anti-Hindu.

Janardhan Bhandarkar, a councilor objected to Suvarna’s statement and said that the Chief Minister brought several programmes for the people. Such statement by the opposition should be condemned.

Meenakshi Madhav Bannanje said that chief minister provided Rs. 10 crore for the development of the Udupi City Municipality and such statement from opposition must be objected. She assured that all work will be completed before Paryaya.

D. Manjunathaiah, Commissioner of CMC said that several meetings were done on preparation of Paryaya with the DC and other departments.

Sandya Tilak Raj, Vice President, Yuvaraj former President, Kavita Krishamurthy, Geetha Shet and others were present during the meeting.
