Udupi: All the departments should work together to celebrate 'Kannada Rajyotsava' which will be held on November 1 at Beedinagudde Municipal Ground, said Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Sadashiva Prabhu.
He was speaking at the Kannada Rajyotsava Preliminary Meeting held at the Udupi District Secretariat office on Tuesday, October 15.
Presiding over the meeting, Prabhu said, "The Rajyotsava programme has reflects the art and culture of various departments. It is one of the most highly-photographed parades that are organised."
He further instructed the CMC to display photographs of Bhuvaneshwari Devi and the department's Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Similarly, the Department of Agriculture was asked to promote integrated farming system, gardening, and mushroom farming while the Health Department was urged to celebrate the eradication of infectious diseases in India and Ayushman Bharat as well.
He also suggested that the Labor Department create a statue and said that he wanted the tableaux to be competitive and innovative.
The ADC said that the Department of Kannada and Cultural Affairs has agreed to organise a diverse cultural program put up by schoolchildren at the Beedanagudai Ground.
Pranhu also mentioned that the Rajyotsava Award will be given to artists, writers, social service members, and athletes. Applicants can approach the Assistant Director of Kannada and Culture Department by October 22 and the award will be given in recognition of one's achievements in various fields.
"All government officials and staff must participate in the programme at the Board High School on the morning of November 1, followed by a parade," he added. The general public was asked to participate as well.
Udupi District Deputy Commissioner (DC) Jagadish said that the various committees in-charge of the Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations should work in coordination with each other.
District Panchayat CEO Preeti Gehlot and various other department officials were present at the meeting.
