Udupi: In relation to an enquiry into the sinking of the fishing boat, “Suvarna Tribhuja,” a delegation of fishermen is likely to meet Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in New Delhi on May 21, 2019.
Sathish Kunder, President of the Malpe Fishermen’s Association said that the delegation of the fishermen was earlier expected to meet Nirmala Sitharaman in New Delhi on May 16, but due to the unavailability of the defence minister in New Delhi, the delegation will meet her on May 21. Her personal secretary has said that he would try to give an appointment on May 21.
Sathish Kunder said, “we strongly suspect that the naval ship, INS Kochi collided with the Suvarna Tribhuja near Malwan in Maharastra coast sinking the fishing boat. If so, we will seek an inquiry into the matter to know about the exact facts. We will seek maximum compensation for the kin of the seven fishermen as they have lost their earning members.”
