Students create world record singing ‘Vande Matharam’ at Malpe

Udupi : As many as 4850 students from 23 degree colleges of the district sang ‘Vande Mataram’ to enter the Golden Book of World Records, on Malpe beach near here in Udupi on Saturday, 2018.

Samvedana Foundation, a voluntary organisation had organised the event to mark the 155th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. The aim of the event was to create awareness on saving the nature.

The college students wore the same badge with the slogan “Save nature for the future” and sang the full version of the National Song, Vande Mataram.

Singers like Sangeetha Ravindranath, Malini Keshav, Suhana Sayeed and others joined the group. Earlier, the students brought a 1,750 feet long and nine feet wide national flag in a procession from the Gandhi Shatabdi grounds to the beach here in Malpe.

Speaking on the District in-charge Minister Pramod Madhwaraj said that the youths should strive for building the country on the ideals of great visionaries like Swami Vivekananda. The message of patriotism imbibed among the youths should send the unique message of oneness and brotherhood.

Santhosh Agarwal, Representative from Golden Book of World Record organization, New Delhi said that Udupi has created a world record wherein a large congregation has come together to sing the national song wearing the same badge. Meenakshi Madhav Bannanje, Udupi CMC President, Dinakar Babu Zilla Panchayat President, Raghupathy Bhat and Lalaji Mendon former MLAs, G. Shankar, philanthropist, Sadhu K. Salian Entrepreneur, Laxminarayan Gupta of Sahara Radiants Society, Andhra Pradesh, Yash movie actor, Rajesh Krishanan Bengaluru, BJP leaders and others were present.

Dr. G. Shankar inuaugrated the programme. Pramod Madhwaraj presided. Arun Kallianpur welcomed the gatherings. Prakash Malpe and Prashanth Thingalaya delivered the keynote address. Nikil Salian proposed vote of thanks. Damodar and Saujanya Hegde hosted the programme.
