Brahmavar: The students of the Rukmini Shedti Memorial National Government First Grade College at Barkur have been boycotting classes since the past four days demanding the transfer of the new principal of the institution.
Already, the students have submitted a memorandum to the authorities with a long list of allegations against the Principal Dr Krishna Madivala who was posted at the college just a month ago. The students are now seeking his transfer.
The allegation of the students is that the Principal begins his conversation by chanting Hari Om and described him as a casteist. Another allegation is that the principal was persuading many to join some private college on the pretext that the Barkur college did not offer quality education for those who aspired to pursue post graduation. The students also allege that the Principal was not permitting extra-curricular activities.
Though a meeting of the college committee members, villagers, representatives of old students association and parents was held at the College on August 11, Monday, it failed to arrive at any definite conclusion. The meeting was participated by representatives of Parent Teachers Association, Old Students Association and management including Himakar Shetty, Ramanand Shetty, Satish Poojari, Rajesh Shetty and others.
Meanwhile, the Principal, Dr Krishna Madivala said so “It has been 30 days since I was transferred here as per government orders. But, so far the previous Principal has not handed over charge. I have brought this to the notice of the Commissioner and Joint Director of Collegiate Education.” “The developments here are strange. I honour the government orders,” the Principal said.
