Udupi: D.K. and Udupi district Fish Trading Federation Ltd, along with Fisheries Department will organize state-level “Fish Fest 2K18” at 5.30pm, on Sunday, December 30 at Sri Ambigara Chowdayya Vedike, Malpe beach near here.
Speaking to media persons during the press meet at Udupi Press Club on Friday, December 28, Federation President Yashpal Suvarna said that in order to support fishing and fish consumption, the festival has been organized. More than one lakh people will participate during the fest.
During the festival, he said fish kiosks selling delicious fish delicacies will be the highlight of the fest. Meanwhile, there will be events like swimming competitions, beach sports, traditional fishing, Beach Volley Ball for men, Beach Throw Ball for women, Men and Women team beach Kabaddi and tug-of-war events will be held. Events like sand sculpture competition, drawing competition, and other competitions will be arranged. The cash prizes and awards will be distributed to winners of the various events and games.

He said that Venketrao Nadagowda, Minister for Fisheries and Horticulture will inaugurate the Fest Mela. Dr. Jayamala District in-charge minister of the Udupi district, District MLAs, Dr. H. S. Ballal Pro chancellor of MAHE, Kishore Alva of UPCL and others will be the chief guests.
