Udupi: The current state government, led by Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, will collapse within 24 hours after the Lok Sabha election results are announced on May 23, said local MLA Raghupathy Bhat on Monday, April 8.
Addressing a press meet at the Udupi Press Club here on Monday, Bhat compared the ‘Mahagathbandhan’ of the opposition parties to Ali Baba and the 40 thieves and said that the leaders of the different political parties lack credibility and accountability. “The Modi-wave is still present in the country and the people want to give him another term as Prime Minister,” he said.
When asked, Bhat blamed Pramod Madhwaraj for the sand crisis in the district. “Other parts of the coastal district gets sand easily. So, why is there still a sand crisis in our district? Pramod failed to develop the district during his term as minister of the state,” he charged.
Informing that PM Narendra Modi will visit Mangaluru on April 13, he said that the BJP Yuva Morcha has planned to conduct a bicycle rally called “Chowkidhar Cyclathon” on April 12, to spread awareness of Modi’s visit. “The rally will be held from Malpe to the BJP office near MGM College. More than 1,000 bicyclists are expected to participate in the rally. The election commission didn’t give us permission to hold a motorcycle rally,” he informed.
BJP leaders Mahesh Thakur, Shreesha Nayak, Kappettu Praveen Kumar Shetty and others were present.
