Puttur: The St Philomena College men’s team bagged the “Best Physique” championship award at an inter-collegiate competition organised by the Government First Grade College (Haleyangady), in association with the Mangalore University Department of Physical Education.
Students from colleges affliated to Mangalore University were eligible to participate in the contest.
Swasthik bagged a gold medal in the 95kg category and team captain Adarsh B secured a silver medal in the under-65kg category. In the under-60kg category Yogish KK was awarded the silver medal and Shiyabuddeen bagged the bronze medal in the under-90kg category. Furthermore, Akshayalal came in fourth in the under-80kg category and Amruth Rai also bagged the fourth place in the under-60kg category. Team members Vineeth and Prajwal also put on a significant performance.
The team secured an aggregate of 25 points and won the overall Men’s Best Physique championship of the academic year 2019-20.
The Physical Education directors of the college, Mr Prakash D’Souza and Mr Rajesh Moolya guided the team. Trainer Navaneeth of Bajaj, Puttur trained the members of the team.
Physical Education Director Praveen Kumar presented the list of prize winners.
In the award ceremony, Mangalore University Physical Education Director Dr Kishor Kumar C K, former Mister World Raymond D’Souza, GFGC Haleyangady Principal Dr P B Prasanna, Kabaddi Referee Premanath Ullal, Zilla Panchayat members Vinod Kumar Bollur, Srinivas Shenoy, and others were present to felicitate the winners of the competition.
