Udupi: Sri Ishapriya Theertha Swamiji, junior seer of the Admar Mutt, received a rousing welcome during his “Purapravesha” (entry to the temple city) here on Wednesday, January 8.
Earlier, the Udupi City Municipality had organized a “Purapravesha” programme.
A colourful procession commenced from Jodukatte and culminated at the Rathabeedi of Sri Krishna Temple via Diana Circle, K M Marg. The Swamiji, after reaching Rathabeedi, visited the Lord Anantheshwar and Lord Chandramouleeshwara temples and offered prayers. He was received by Sri Vidyadeesha Theertha Swamiji of the Palimar Mutt. After this, Sri Ishapriya Theertha Swamiji entered the Admar Mutt near Car Street.
Prior to the procession, Sri Ishapriya Theertha Swamiji was received at Jodukatte by Karnataka Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai, Revenue Minister R Ashoka, Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje, Udupi MLA Raghupathi Bhat and others.
Sri Ishapriya Theertha Swamiji will ascend the sacred Paryaya Peeta on January 18. He will take the puja rights to conduct his Paryaya at the Sri Krishna Mutt for a two-year term from outgoing Shri Vidyadeesha Theertha Swamiji of the Palimar Mutt.
The students of Poornaprajna College, various tableaux, Chende and a large number of people participated in the colourful procession. A large number of people also gathered to witness the procession.
