Karkala : State Minister for Urban Development and Udupi District in-charge Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake laid the foundation for a Yatri Nivas to be constructed in connection with the Mahamastakabhisheka of Bhagavan Sri Bahubali in 2015. The project is a joint venture of the Tourism Department and Shree Karnataka Jaina Purohita Sangha of Hiriyangady.
A function was held in this connection at the Shree Mahaveera Bhavan premises at Hiriyangady on Sunday July 13. Speaking on the occasion, the minister said a sum of Rs 60 lakh has been released by the Tourism Department for the project. Apart from that Rs 15 lakhs will be sanctioned by various other departments, he assured.
Swasthishree Lalitha Keerthi Bhattaraka Mahaswamiji of Karkala Jaina Mutt, blessed the occasion. Dr Muddu Mohan, Deputy Commissioner of Udupi, Jithendranath U, Assistant director of Tourism Department, Babu Gowda, Tahsildar, Rehamath N Sheikh, TMC President, Yogish Devadiga, Councillor, Vishwasen, Honorary Advisor of the Hiriyangady Shree Karnataka Jaina Purohitha Sangha, K Vardhaman Indra, Honorary President. M Nirvahana Indra, President, Prasanna Kumar, Secretary and others were present.
