Sixteen from Udupi, eight others test COVID-19 positive; Tally rises to 2182

Udupi: As many as 16 people from Udupi and eight others tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday, May 25 evening. The state’s tally is now 2182, while the death toll has risen to 44.

Earlier in the day, 69 cases and one death (Bengaluru Rural) were reported from the state. Another death was reported from the Dakshina Kannada district (COVID-19 test results came back positive after 12 PM today), taking the state’s total COVID-caused death to 44.

Except for three cases, the rest of the cases reported from Udupi recently returned from Maharashtra.

The other cases have been reported from Kalaburagi (2), Bengaluru Urban (2), Uttara Kannada (1), Dharwad (1) and Hassan (1).

Of the 2182 cases reported from the state, 44 are deaths, two are non-COVID caused deaths, and 705 are discharges.
