Udupi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Member of Parliament, Shobha Karandlaje, on Tuesday, January 29, said that former chief minister Siddaramaiah was indirectly trying to destabilise the government by using Congress MLAs.

Speaking to media, Karandlaje said, “Siddaramaiah is the ringmaster for all the quarrels and misunderstandings between the Congress and the Janata Dal (S). Don’t blame the BJP for the downfall of the coalition partners. Siddaramaiah is playing with Congress MLAs and has a desire to be the chief minister once again.”

“Kumaraswamy is showing helplessness to gain sympathy,” she added.

Speaking about the seven missing fishermen that the government is searching for, Karandlaje said that there was information that a boat was sited deep in the sea, and that more information would surface soon.

When asked about the recent issue of the former CM losing his cool with a woman, Karandlaje said that Siddaramaiah does not have least respect towards women. “He became desperate after losing the Mysuru Assembly constituency. He gets angry and fights whenever he goes to Mysuru,” she added.

Expressing her sorrow on the death of George Fernandes, Karandlaje said that Fernandes was a socialist and trade unions’ leader, and a proud son of the coastal area.

“He was imprisoned during the emergency. Fernandes was a simple man with high thinking and courage. He served as the defence minister for two terms. He has even visited the Siachen battlefield. The success of Kargil war was only due to Atal Bihari Vajpayee and George Fernandes. We have lost a great patriot,” she said.
