Udupi : A larger section of the people in the state are clearly showing positive support for the BJP, said party state president B S Yeddyurappa on Friday, June 23 having visited several districts of the state.

Addressing media persons at the district BJP office at Kunjibettu here, Yeddyurappa said that Siddaramaiah should have visited Udupi Sri Krishna Math along with the President in the capacity of the state chief minister, but unfortunately he had not done so. Further he alleged that Siddaramaiah was trying to divide the society on caste issue in the state adding that the people of the state will give him a befitting reply.

Regarding the Kalladka issue, Yeddyurappa stated that the district in-charge minister, Ramanath Rai had misused his powers by directing the police to arrest Dr. Prabhakar Bhat Kalladka. “Rai doesn’t know the power and popularity that Dr. Bhat has. If the chief minister is a responsible, he should drop Rai from the state ministry,” he said.

The state government has failed to resolve the sand crisis being faced by the coastal region. Despite the state facing a severe drought situation, the state government has waived only 25 per cent of the farmers’ loan, they need to waive loan from nationalized banks also. He questioned why it was not possible to waive the farmer loans completely in our state when Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra governments could do so.

The union government has achieved more than the expectations in their three-year rule. Funds given by the central government are being used for the distribution of rice and wheat in Annabagya scheme. Pictures of Modi should be displayed at all the rice distribution centre in the state, to make people aware of the union government’s projects. Majority of poor people should take advantage of the Union government’s scheme of jararik medicines.

Queried on Venkaiah Naidu Union Minister’s statement describing the state government’s farmer’s loan waiver ‘a fashion’, Yeddyurappa said that his statement has been misunderstood.

Shobha Karandlje MP; district BJP president Mattaru Rathnakar Hegde, BJP leader Kumar Bangarappa, former Udupi MLA Raghupati Bhat, Thingale Vikramarjuna Hegde, Yashpal Suvarna, Shreesha Nayak, Sheela K Shetty and several other BJP leaders were present.
