pramod madhwarajUdupi: MP Shobha Karandlaje has done nothing and what she claims to have done was not done by her, said former minister Pramod Madhwaraj.

Addressing a press conference at the Udupi Press Club on Saturday, October 26, Pramod Madhwaraj said, “Recently, MP Shobha Karandlaje along with local MLA Raghupathi Bhat had visited the Government Tool Room Training Centre (GTTC) at Uppoor village near here. Raghupathi Bhat tweeted that MP Shobha Karandlaje had visited the GTTC and said that it was the achievement of the Union Government. But it is due to my efforts that the GTTC was brought to Uppoor”

The former minister also released documents to the press in order to prove that he had brought the GTTC to Uppoor in a bid to create jobs for the students here.

Madhwaraj further said, “I had requested then-minister of small industries Sathish Jarakihole and Prakash Hukkeri to sanction a government tool training Centre at Uppoor Government High School on 5 acres of land and got Rs 48 crores released for the project through NABARD.”

“Presently, the work of the building is not completed. If I would have been the MLA, surely the courses could have started from this academic year. But, this has not happened. I request the elected representatives to try and complete the construction of the Centre quickly,” he added.

In response to Karandlaje’s statement calling Siddaramiah a “cheap politician”, Madhwaraj said, “Shobha has forgotten that former CM Siddaramiah is the most powerful politician and his tenure as CM was a golden age in the state. It is a shame that despite not working to get a single paise sanctioned for the GTTC, Shobha Karandlaje is claiming that she did the work.”

Madhwaraj also urged MP Shobha Karandlaje and MLA Raghupathi Bhat to get at least Rs 20 lakhs of funds for a stadium at the Uppoor Government High School.

Udupi CMC member Ramesh Kanchan, Zilla Panchayat member Janardhan Thonse, Udupi Block Congress President Sathish Amin Padukere, District Congress Committee Secretary Janardan Bhandarkar, and former CMC member Dinakar Poojary Heroor were present during the press meet.
