Udupi: The SC unit of the Udupi Block Congress Party staged a protest near the War Memorial in Ajjarkad here on Wednesday, December 27, seeking justice for Danamma and against Ananth Kumar Hegde, Union Minister for his various controversial comments regarding the Indian Constitution and so on.
Addressing the protesters, the Udupi Block Congress President Sathish Amin Padukere alleged that the BJP party members themselves are involved in the rape and murder of Danamma. “We strongly condemn the rape and murder of Danamma,” he added.
He also claimed that the BJP indulges in dirty politics during the election time and play a major role in the conflicts between communities. “We condemn the fake Hindutva of BJP,” he said adding that they also also condemn the statements of the Union Minister Ananth Kumar Hegde regarding the Constitution the backward and other minorities’ communities. “The BJP is planning to keep aside the interests of lower class people and the minorities as well,” he claimed.
Addressing the protesters, Janardhan Bandarkar, Senior congress leader, said “L K Advani, during the election campaign, initiated the Rathayathra in 1992 and fueled violence throughout the country.” While condemning the rape and murder of Danamma in Vijayapura near Honnavar, Janardhan Bhandarkar stated that the silence of the BJP regarding the matter raises several questions.
He also accused BJP National President Amit Shah of inciting violence in the community.
