Udupi: Rahul Gandhi will be visiting the coastal district for the first time after assuming the charge as AICC Chief on March 20 to participate in road show in Udupi and will inaugurate the National Political Academy at Yermal, near Padubidri, said Ivan D’Souza, MLC and Chief Whip of Karnataka Legislative Council.
Addressing media persons during in his press meet at Congress Bhavan at Brahmagiri on Saturday, he said that Rahul Gandhi will arrive at the Mangaluru International Airport and then proceed to Kaup by Helicopter. After the inauguration of NPA at Yermal, he will take part in the road show at Yermal and Padubidri in Udupi district. he will then proceed to take part in road show in Mulki and reach Mangaluru after visiting Surathkal. In Mangaluru the mega road show will begin from Jyothi Circle and culminate at Nehru Maidan. He will then address the Congress party workers at the Nehru Maidan at the end of the program in the evening.
He said that chief minister Siddaramaiah, KPCC President Dr. G. Parameshwar and Working President Dinesh Gunurao, Rajya Sabha MP and Congress Senior leader Oscar Fernandes, former chief minister Veerappa Moily, Venugopal State in-charge and other Senior Congress leaders will participate in the programs in Udupi district and Mangaluru. Over one lakh party workers will participate in the public meeting to be held at Mangaluru.
When asked about the candidate from Mulky-Moodubidri legislative assembly seat, he said he is one of the aspirants as sitting MLA Abhayachandra Jain has already said that he will not be contesting in the forthcoming election.
