Udupi: Following an unfortunate road accident Jaya T. Thonse (64), died on Saturday night (August 11) at a private Hospital here in Udupi. Thonse was a postman in Kemmannu for the last 40 years and had only retired a few years ago.
The accident that resulted in Thonse’s death happened on Friday afternoon near the Govt. Jr. College road bus stop. While he was turning right towards the Fisheries road on his way from Kemmannu, a bike hit him from behind. Thonse suffered serious head injuries and was rushed to a hospital. He succumbed to his injuries on Saturday evening.
Thonse was the son of late Somappa Poojary from Gulibettu Kemmannu. Thonse was active in social circles and involved himself with several organizations and social activities. He was also the President of Gulibettu Babbuswamy Temple and was a member of Thonse Garadi.
Thonse’s last rites are expected to be conducted this evening.
