Udupi : Refuting the ‘communal’ murder allegations made by opposition BJP, Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy released a list of three documents to counter the charges. As per the list, Reddy observed that contrary to what BJP claims on the murders of Hindu activists, most of the victims were killed either due to personal reasons or by members of the Hindu community itself while in few cases it was a suicidal death.

Addressing media persons after holding a review meeting of the Coast Guard, Home Minister released the three documents – the list of Hindus killed by right-wing outfits, other list of Muslims murdered by right-wing outfits and thirdly the list of Hindus killed by the members of their own community. All these three lists were produced in the Legislative Assembly and Legislative council. A total of 21 attacks had taken place, of which in 11 cases the targets were Muslims, who were killed by right-wing outfits. Most of the Hindu activists were killed by their own outfits.

Ramalinga Reddy said that there is no ground in the allegations made by BJP that Hindu activists have been targeted and these claims should not be believed. The deaths occurred due to various reasons. All cases of deaths were investigated , arrests were done and chargesheets submitted.

He also pointed out that while BJP had mentioned the name of Ashok Poojary as a victim of the communal murders, he was very much alive. Also, another so called victim, Rajan Madikere was an alcoholic, and had jumped off a building while Vaman Poojary’s death had occured due to suicidal hanging. In the case of Ashwath Kumar, he was hacked to death over political rivalry with a person called Keshamurthy while Yogesh Gowda was murdered due to land dispute. But, despite these facts, the BJP has been claiming that all these deaths were of a communal nature. Meanwhile he questioned the BJP’s silence on the deaths of 11 Muslims, who were murdered by right-wing outfits.

“There are several cases against Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath. He has no moral right to say Siddaramaih government is the most corrupt in the country,” he said adding that Uttar Pradesh state ranks first in the country in rape cases and crimes followed by Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.

He said that during the Congress tenure in the state, the rate of crimes is far lower than BJP-ruled states. He also took a jibe at the BJP’s stance on cow slaughter by stating that Uttar Pradesh, a BJP-ruled state is the top-most exporter of beef in the country.
