Manipal: The first Sunday of February is important for bird watchers in Manipal. The day is set aside for bird lovers to do a bit of trekking at the break of dawn to spot and identify birds in different areas of this plateau. Manipal Bird Day has come a long way since it first began nine years ago.
End Point at Manipal comes alive with kites and festivities
Manipal: The 7th edition of 'Tarang' held at the football ground in End Point here on Sunday, February 3, and put together by the Volunteer Services Organization of Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), drew young and old alike to the fun and frolic associated with the annual kite flying event. The theme this year, “I am, I Will”, was similar to the World Cancer Day (February 4) theme only to create awareness about the dreadful disease.
Udupi DC Priyanka Mary Francis transferred
Udupi: Deputy Commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis has been transferred to Stare Tourism Department as the Director. Hepshiba Rani Korlapatti has been appointed as the new DC of Udupi district. She was the Managing Director of Special Purpose Vehicle Hubballi Dharwad.

No exemption for local vehicles at Hejamady Toll Gate
Udupi: Long-standing demand of the locals to exempt vehicles carrying Udupi registration number from paying the toll at Hejamady Toll Gate seems to be remaining a demand, with the officials of the Navayuga Construction Company saying that there is no reason why the local vehicles should be given an exemption.
Woman dumped on road after alleged abduction, accused escapes
Udupi: In a suspect case of abduction, a woman was kicked out of a car when she allegedly tried to escape. The driver of the grey Maruti Ritz dumped the car near Kinnimulki after kicking the woman out and fled the scene. The car in question bore a Udupi registration number plate.
Regional party leaders have no vision: B J Puttaswamy
Udupi: "The regional party leaders do not have any principle or vision for the country. These regional parties fear that in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will once again form the union government," said B J Puttaswamy, President of BJP State Backward Classes Morcha.
Manipal Marathon- 2019 to be held on February 17
Manipal: The 2019 edition of Manipal Marathon, powered by ICICI Bank, will be held here on February 17. This year, about 10,000 runners are expected to take part in four different distances and the marathon this year will carry a prize money of Rs eight lakhs. The races will be flagged off from the road in front of the food court and will end at KMC Greens.
