Udupi: Niranjan Chidanand Bhat, was sentenced to three years rigorous imprisonment, and also slammed with a penalty of Rs 7,000, on Monday, for impersonating former president of India A P J Abdul Kalam. Additional JMFC court held him guilty of the crime and declared the punishment.

High level meeting on toll gate controversy fails
Udupi: A high level meeting which was held at Vidhan Soudha in Bengaluru to discuss ways of breaking an impasse over the collection of toll charges at the plazas set up in Sasthan and Hejamady failed as there was no consensus could be achieved.
