Public can submit RTI application online from January: DC

Udupi: Members of the public will soon be able to apply for information from select departments, under the Right to Information Act, online. From January, the applicant can pay and receive the information online, said district Deputy Commissioner, G Jagadeesh.

He was speaking during a training workshop on the application of RTI, held at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Auditorium in Rajathadri, Manipal on Monday, December 23.

According to the DC, as the initiative is in the experimental phase, online information can be obtained only from the revenue, PWD, food and civil supplies, interior, urban and rural development and the Panchayat Raj department. The applicants can pay the fees online through debit or credit cards and access the information even in the offline mode.

All Tehsildars of the district, Department of Police, Public Works, Urban Development, Food and Civil Supplies, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department officials were present.
