Udupi: The launch and inauguration of few projects worth Rs 581 Crore in Udupi Assembly constituency by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is merely an election gimmick, alleged Raghupathy Bhat, former MLA and senior leader of BJP.

Speaking to media persons at Udupi Press Club on January 6, Raghupathy Bhat said that Siddaramiah was slated to launch and inaugurate Rs 581 Crore worth projects during his visit to Udupi district. He, however termed this as a mere eye-wash on the part of Congress adding that District In-charge Minister Pramod Madhwaraj had failed in ensuring developmental works in the district

“Prior to the launch of any project, official procedures such as tender process etc., need to be completed before sanctioning of work to contractors”, he said adding that the inaugural/launch events were being held hastily.

Further, he alleged that as per district in-charge minister’s earlier press release the Varahi Water Project was baseless.

He questioned the inaugural of the Malpe seaport, an union government aided project, as a new one by the CM, when the same was completed several years ago.

Bhat, strongly condemning the district administration order asking officials to compulsorily attend the various programmes of the chief minister, said, “In order to gather larger number of people for the party’s convention, the district administration, under instructions from Pramod Madhwaraj is misusing the government machinery”, he said.

Prabhakar Poojary, Yashpal Suvarna, Suresh Nayak Kulaidy, Shreesha Nayak, Roshan Shetty and others were present.
