Udupi: President of India Ramnath Kovind met Pejawar Seer Sri Vishweshatheertha on Thursday, December 27 in Udupi and inquired about his health.
Speaking to the octogenarian seer, President Kovind said that the country needs his guidance and that his zest for life even at 88 years takes everyone by surprise. “I am elated to visit Udupi, meet Swamiji and also have darshan of Lord Krishna. The paths of devotion are many but it all leads to the same God,” said the President.
During the meeting, the seer offered a Yakshagana head gear and Atte Prabhavali to the President as the token of love and affection.
District in-charge minister Jayamala, MLA Raghupathi Bhat, Opposition leader in the Legislative Council Srinivas Poojary, former minister Pramodh Madhwaraj among others were present.
Earlier, President Ram Nath Kovind arrived at Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) at around 11.30 am. He was welcomed by Governor Vajubhai Vala along with others like Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) Mayor Bhaskar K, Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat president Meenakshi Shanthigodu, Deputy Commissioner S Sasikanth Senthil, Additional Deputy Commissioner Kumar, Commissioner of Police T R Suresh, Superintendent of Police Ravikanthe Gowda, Deputy Commissioner of Police ( Crime and Traffic) Uma Prashnth among others.
After the guard of honor at the airport, he left the MIA in a helicopter to Udupi.
