Udupi: The new building of Rehabilitation Centre for Destitute was inaugurated by Pramod Madhwaraj, District In-charge Minister, Minister of State for Fisheries, Sports and Youth Empowerment at Beedinagudde near here on June 11.
The new building of Rehabilitation Centre for Destitute is the initiative of the Udupi City Municipal Council in order to uplift the urban poor folks by enhancing sustainable livelihood opportunities through skill development.
The said rehabilitation centre building has been built at a cost of Rs. 38 Lakh under Deen Dayal Antyodaya Yojana and National Rural Livelihood Mission.
Speaking on the occasion, Pramod Madhwaraj said this centre would provide care and love for the homeless, orphaned children, physically challenged persons and other needy. The main aim of the Centre is to make the inmates self-dependent as well. They will also be eligible to get jobs and other services in future.
Meenakshi Mahdav Bannanje, Udupi City Municipal Council President; Janardhan Bhandarkar, nominated CMC member; Manjunathaiah, CMC Commissioner; P Yuvaraj, CMC Councillor and other councillors were present.
