Udupi: Pramod Madhwaraj filed his nomination as the Udupi Legislative Assembly candidate from the Indian National Congress Party here on April 23. By his side all the way, was his mother and former minister Manorama Madhwaraj.
In his posse, accompanying him were Udupi District Congress Committee President Janardhan Thonse, Women’s Congress leader Veronica Cornelio and Pramod’s advocate Vijay Hegde.
Addressing the rumours of him joining the BJP, he said that the talks would finally be put to rest since he had filed his nomination.
“My service to the people and the developmental works will help us win the election. I am confident of winning the election. My first opponent is confidence and the second is my opponent in the election,” he said.
Earlier, Pramod Madhwaraj took the blessings of BJP’s Udupi legislative candidate Raghupathy Bhat’s mother, who had come for her son’s nomination. Reporters asked him why he took the blessings from his opponent’s mother, to which Pramod said that Raghupathy Bhat was his classmate in the school. “At that time, I used to visit his mother. She was my fan at that time too”, he said.
Madhwaraj also said that he would hold Janasamparka meetings with all the department officials and the people of all the booths of the Udupi constituency and solve the problems faced by them.
